Everything meets in Home Assistant on your server: Davis feeds climate + soil, Protect feeds snapshots (an automation sends them to a vision model for scouting notes), and each valve is an HA switch β so watering automations can react to the same soil data you see here.

Three WH51 moisture sensors β tomato bed, lettuce bed, and one at root depth mid-corn β plus one WN34 soil temp probe in the greenhouse. They talk 433 MHz to one small WiFi gateway, which HA's native Ecowitt integration reads locally. AA batteries last about a season.

One D1 unit = both zones, with two built-in flow meters (real gpm on this dashboard) and fail-safe close. The gateway speaks MQTT to HA directly: local control, no cloud, no Zigbee dongle. ONE catch: both D1 outlets live at the same tap β so it fits if the greenhouse and corn drip runs both start from one water source (poly tubing carries water out to the corn). If the corn feeds from a separate far-away spigot instead, buy two single G2S timers on the same gateway. Bring it inside before first freeze.

A drip irrigation kit for the four beds (emitters or soaker line off one manifold) and drip tape for the corn rows. Get a kit that includes a filter + pressure regulator β skipping those is the #1 way drip systems clog and blow fittings.
